Sarah Moon-Penrod, NCMG, began her grooming journey in 2004 as a private groomer for a professional handler and has since cultivated a remarkable career as a salon owner, educator, and award-winning competitor. With over 20 years of experience, she has established herself as a leader in the grooming industry.
In 2011, Sarah opened her own salon and became Austin’s first National Certified Master Groomer (NCMG). She is also certified in Pet CPR and First Aid and is an active member of the Texas Professional Pet Groomers Association the National Dog Grooming Association of America and the International Society of Canine Cosmetology.
Sarah's Competitive Accolades Include
• Being named “Best Pet Stylist in Texas” at the 2011 Pet Pro Classic.
• Earning a spot on Groom Team USA 2012, recognizing her as one of the nation’s top ten groomers.
• Being nominated for the Barkleigh Honors Award for “Up and Coming Groomer of the Year” in 2012.
• Winning Best in Show at Groom Texas in both 2016 and 2017.
Beyond the competition ring, Sarah has shown and finished dogs in conformation from multiple groups, including her own English Cocker Spaniel and Miniature Schnauzer. Her passion lies in grooming to Breed Standard, and she excels at combining artistry with technical ability.
In 2023 Sarah began her career as a Grooming Competition Judge and accepted the position as the Director of Education and Event Coordinator for the Texas Professional Pet Groomers Association (TPPGA), Sarah is dedicated to supporting the industry and inspiring other groomers on their journey to excellence. Through her business, Sarah Moon Grooms, she provides education for groomers, helping them elevate their skills.
